Why? (You Dey Treat Am Bad)
Ghanaian R&B singer/songwriter Chemphe has explained the rationale behind his advocacy album “Why you dey treat am bad”, which is dedicated to the fight against domestic violence. He says he was inspired by an incident where he witnessed a naked woman fleeing the wrath of her furious partner.
During the launching of Chemphe's second album at the Coconut Groove Hotel in Accra, Ghana on November 25 2007, Chemphe said: “I was returning from the studio in a taxicab and we came across this naked woman who was being chased by her partner. We stopped to offer some help. After I got home and thought about the whole incident, the song ‘Why You Dey Treat Am Bad’ came”.
