Detour
I've always been lucky to work with great singers in my projects, from John Howard on the first Small Mercies CD to Robert Starr in the California incarnation of the band and Noah Howe in Portland. So when I happened upon transplanted LA
singer / hammond player Dennis Newman in Portland, it turned into another detour where I started writing again and we collaborated on five tunes to compile this CD.
"This one has the imprint of my whole life in it.......the years of playing clubs all over Austin Tx, Southern California and Canada.......all the dreams and hopes ....... this one doesn't just have my blood, sweat and tears in it........this one has my DNA."............ James Grant.
Many thanks to Dennis Newman for his great voice and for co-writing five of the tunes...it was a pleasure working with him, and will continue to be down the line.
Thanks also to Frank Dato who did the drum tracks long distance at Roper Recording in...
