Leona Williams Sings Merle Haggard
For those of you who can\'t find your country music history book: in the late 70\'s, Williams teamed up with Merle Haggard to record \"The Bull and the Beaver.\" When the song became a top ten hit, they recorded a duet album titled \"Heart to Heart.\" The couple also teamed up in real life and married in 1978. During their marriage, Williams wrote some of Haggard\'s biggest hits including \"You Take Me for Granted\" and you can hear her harmony vocals on several of Haggard\'s top tunes, including \"The Way I Am,\" The Roots of my Raising,\" and \"Big City.\" Their married life wasn\'t quite as harmonious as their music projects and, although they remained friends, they divorced in 1984.
