Smooth Elecric
Producer DJ Marlin has been hatching quiet classics from his west coast studio for almost a decade. The Scratch DJ started to learn the possibilities of the studio in the late 90's while at sound engineering school in Vancouver, Canada. With 4 instrumental albums of boom bap beats and soulful melodies, along with the "Tree House Radio" mix series put out in Japan, Marlin has a body of head noding beats that are bigger than hip hop alone. Behind the scenes his music has set the mood in snowboard films, television and on the web. Marlin has lived in Los Angeles, Vancouver, and rain forest hide outs like Roberts Creek BC, where he lives today. Whether acoustic or synthed out, Marlin's indie hip hop sound shares a west coast smoothness and a hard hitting production value that cut and pastes his life into beats, like samples from a record.
