Denise Black and the Kray Sisters (1984 Collection)
Denise Black, Josie Lawrence and Kate McKenzie aka The Kray Sisters met at the Newcastle Playhouse in '84. Their love of theatre, music and carousing led to many many gigs. Which meant we met everyday for a year, rehearsing hard. Paul Sand was the MD, played piano and wrote the songs. Hilariously inventive songs and others harder to categorise, some of it quite wild stuff. DB and the Krays played all over England - there were many other contributors over the years: Anna Palmer, Laura Davies, Bruce Douglas, Johnny Hinks, Sandra Michael, Michelle de Pass. It's not all recorded, but what we have here is 16 tracks from the original line-up at a '84 session in Damp Studios with Bruce Douglas engineering. We sold those on tape cassettes at gigs. Then in 2000 we recorded again as an ever so slightly older and wiser outfit. We're still great buddies. So here for the first time are 5 new trax from that reunion session engineered by the late great Simo...
