This is the most comprehensive Mahler Edition featuring Michael Gielen, who on the 20th of July will celebrate his 90th birthday. it contains a first release of Mahler's 9th Symphony on DVD (live recording from June 30, which Gielen described to a friend as one of the best concerts in his life), as well as a first release of the five Rucker-Lieder and of the Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen. The installment also includes the Deryck Cooke version of Mahler's 10th Symphony (first time release in 2005).
