Masterpieces of Operetta, Vol. 9: Oscar Straus "Der letzte Walzer" & Robert Stolz "Trauminsel"
It is such a great luck that even today we can listen to composers who have learned the art of conducting operetta when the entire genre was still in its prime. Both Oscar Straus and Robert Stolz were born in the 19th Century and completed their studies with the great masters of the genre. They even heard Johann Strauss in person and fortunately they lived long enough to bring the art of operetta conducting to records. In his recording of the musical highlights from "Der letzte Walzer" (The last Waltz) Oscar Straus is supported by a first class cast from the Vienna State Opera, and Robert Stolz conducts his music from "Trauminsel" (Dream Island) with the Bregenz Festival Orchestra and an all star cast featuring Hilde Konetzni and Hetty Plumacher. Great music by two unique composers! Enjoy these tracks that have been carefully remastered in 24 Bit High Definition.
